The Club consists of 170 members interested in free-climbing, mountaineering, climbing with aid etc. They are mostly students or graduates of Warsaw universities, but the Club welcomes all persons interested in climbing.

We meet all the year at two best climbing walls in Warsaw. At meeting hours, the UKA members pay a reduced fee. Apart from that, we frequently organize slideshows during winter time. From the summer to the autumn, we go to crags areas in Poland and abroad, and we organize meetings in the Alps and the Tatras. We have also a small library of climbing guides - their number will increase with time. You also can obtain a 10% discunt when shopping at 'Kanion' mountain shop (Wilcza/Plater St.) and when buying 'Malachowski' clothes. In the Tatras, you pay a reduced price when staying at the PZA campsites.

But the most important thing is that you can find here a lot of people interested in climbing - as much as you are.

UKA is a member of the PZA (Polish Mountaineering Association) which is a member of the UIAA.

[About the club]

A piece of history

The Alpine Club of the Warsaw University was founded in 1963. Through '70 and '80 it had organized several expeditions to the Caucasus and the Himalayas (and of course to the Dolomites and the Alps). At that time, till 1989 alpine clubs thrived thanks to their monopoly on the steeplejack's works which generated considerable income. Since 1989, when they lost the monopoly, the clubs have been going through a crisis. As the state provides very little support the clubs are funded by their members.

Nowadays the Alpine Club of the Warsaw University is a fast growing, though limited in its financial means, organization which consists of hobbyists: students, graduates and others, all interested in free-climbing and mountaineering (both in summer and in winter.)
